Sarah Elizabeth Burgess, age 98, of McComb, Mississippi, formerly of Eudora, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, Mississippi. She was born December 1, 1910, in Engles, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John Quincy Milholland and Lanora Jane York Milholland and was a homemaker and member of Omega Baptist Church. She was a Eudora resident living on a farm south of Eudora for almost 70 years before moving to McComb, Mississippi with her daughter and her husband.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl P. Burgess, a son, James Edward Burgess and by 5 brothers, James Gurvis Milholland, Paul Silas Milholland, Vester Lee Milholland, Adrian Abraham Milholland and William Coy Milholland and by a sister, Lydia Jane Milholland Mitchell.
Survivors are 3 daughters, Betty Jo McIntire and husband, Dee, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Joycelyn Harko and husband, Wesley, of Ft. Worth, Texas and Dorothy Duckworth and husband, Buford, of McComb, Mississippi; a brother, Clarence Elmo Milholland of El Paso; a sister, Elizabeth Porter and husband, Bill, of Little Rock; 8 grandchildren, Terry Posey, Jeffrey Posey, Mark Harko, Becky Barnes, Mindy Davis, Elizabeth Ingles, Timmy Harko, and Trenia Miller; 13 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Bishop Funeral Home in Lake Village. Funeral services are 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, 2009, at Omega Baptist Church with Bro. Melvin Milholland officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home.
