Paul Richard Collins

Paul Richard Collins, age 95, of Lake Village, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village.  He was a retired Shift Manager for Bassett Furniture Manufacturing Company and a member of Bayou Mason Baptist Church.  Mr. Collins was born October 3, 1913, in Dermott, Arkansas, the son of the late Ed Collins and Maudie Haisty Lemley Collins.  He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II and had been a member of the CCC Camp and was retired from Dermott City Council and retired Captain of Dermott Fire Department.  He was also a charter member of Norris Hill Hunting Club.  His wife of 60 years, Doris Mae Collins preceded him in death and also 2 grandchildren preceded him in death, Leonard Standridge  and  Krista Kay Rice.

 

Survivors are a son, Richard Collins of Hamburg; 2 daughters, Edith Rice and Paula Stewart, both of Lake Village; a half-brother, Herbert Lemley of Dermott; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.  He will also be greatly missed by his constant companion, Nip.

 

Visitation is from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Bishop Funeral Home.  Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Bishop Funeral Home Chapel with

Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in Flat Creek Cemetery in Fountain Hill under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
