Alvaro Mondragon, age 64, of Montrose, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009.  He was born October 2, 1944, in Zacapu, Mexico, the son of Juan and Abagail Mondragon and was a farmer and member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.  Mr. Mondragon has lived in this area for the past 16 years and was employed at Bruce Bond Farms for the past three years.

He was preceded in death by his father Juan Mondragon and by a sister, Ines Mondragon.

Survivors are his wife, Estella Lemus Mondragon; 5 sons, Guadalupe Mondragon and his wife, Bertha, Dolores Mondragon, Erasmo Mondragon, Gelacio Mondragon and Samuel Mondragon,  all of Snyder; a daughter, Maribel Mondragon of Snyder; 3 brothers, Daniel Mondragon and his wife, Juana, of Snyder, Jaime Mondragon and his wife, Theresa and Juan Mondragon and his wife, Trinidad, of Lake Village; 4 sisters, Eliodora Vargas and her husband, Seiso, Rosa Palomares and her husband, Jose, Santos Alejo and her husband Juan, all of Mexico and Maria Huante and her husband, Salvador, of Grady, 3 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Home.  Funeral services are at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 10, 2009, at Lake Village Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Bell and Father Theopolis Okpara officiating.  Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
