Dorothy Rhodes Dabney, 78, of Lake Village, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at Chicot Memorial Hospital. She was born September 6, 1930, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the daughter of the late Martin Luther Rhodes and Leona Bowers Rhodes. Mrs. Dabney was retired from Dabney Engineering and was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James, Jack and George Rhodes, by a sister, Gertie Rhodes and by a step-grandson, Davis Lowery. Survivors are her husband, Thomas Scott Dabney of Lake Village; 5 daughters, Donna Belyeu and husband, Gary, of Collierville, Tennessee, Glenna Ridgway of Collierville, Tennessee, Sharon McCord and husband, Howard, of Lake Village, Polly Fricke and husband, John, of Bryant, and Jenny Avery and husband, Rick, of Siloam Springs; 2 Step-sons, Thomas Dabney and wife, Sherry, and George Dabney and his wife, Barbara, both of Texas; a step-daughter, Sandra Thaxton and her husband, Jim, of North Carolina; a sister, Reda Monk of Lake Village;
13 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Family graveside services are 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Lake Village Cemetery followed by Memorial Services at 2:00 P.M. at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Hill and Rev. Roy Rhodes officiating. Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Lakeside United Methodist Church.
