Nancy Sloan

NANCY FLEMING SLOAN of Lake Village, went to be with our Lord on Dec. 16. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norfleet and Elijah Fleming, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 42 years, Neill Moore Sloan; her three daughters: Caroline (Chuck) Mischke of Lake Village, Mary Martha (Jason) Henry of Little Rock, and Nancy (Tyler) Walton of Sea Grove Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Jay and Neill Henry and Sloan and Amelia Mischke; brother Vic (Susan) Fleming and brother-in-law John Sloan of Little Rock; two nieces; three nephews; an aunt; an uncle; 15 first cousins; and countless other relatives and friends.

           

Nancy spent her childhood in Jackson and Greenville, Miss., graduating from Greenville High in 1963. In 1967, she graduated from LSU, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She devoted her life to her family, her friends and her community. She was a very active member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on various boards and committees, and was a member of the Village Bible Study. Among her many community activities, she was a member of the Century Club, the Lelundi Club and on the board of Guachoya Arts Center.

           

Whether it was cooking, sewing, knitting, decorating or planning parties and weddings, she loved creating and doing things for other people. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends in bridge clubs, supper clubs, pottery groups, the First Wives’ Club and other groups. Throughout her life, she shared the gifts of laughter and story-telling with whomever she met. However, her most important roles were as a devoted wife, loving mother and the very best Mimi in the whole world.

           

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday Dec. 18 at Bishop Funeral Home, in Lake Village. A memorial service will be held at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Lake Village on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the church in celebration of her life.
